A Sexy Holiday Gift from Long Island BOudoir Photography®

The weather is already turning here on Long Island.

While I do appreciate the four seasons, sometimes summer just feels way too short! No sooner do all the summertime playthings come out, it seems we’re putting them away again. Our boat gets stored. Away go the kayaks. Floats. And beach outfits. And out come the autumn decorations and fall outerwear.

Summer is always busy in the Long Island Boudoir Photography® studio due to bridal boudoir shoots and milestone anniversary celebrations.

And before you know it, it’s time to get busy again with fall weddings/anniversaries. But what I’m most concerned about is getting those Christmas and Hanukkah shoots done and orders in!

You see, what most women don’t realize is this: album deadlines get moved up to guarantee Christmas delivery. This has always been the case, pandemic or not. But COVID certainly didn’t do us any favors. It seems supply chains everywhere have been bogged down and behind schedule as a result of pandemic challenges including business slow downs and materials/labor shortages.

And yet, year after year, I get calls late November, early December…women inquiring about Christmas gifts, sadly when the ship has already sailed.

So, what does this mean for you? If you’re considering a winter holiday gift, yesterday was the time to do your shoot. But the next best time? That’s right now! This month - October.

Valentine’s is always a great time to give the gift of a boudoir album, but that too should be ideally shot in November/December.

The beautiful boudoir albums I provide are handmade with rich leathers and beautiful silks. But even before these albums can be made, the images must be beautifully edited, retouched, color-corrected and laid out.

My clients know this: art takes time. Sure, anyone can throw filters on images and call it a day—leaving electrical sockets, unsightly underarm creases, stubble and razor bumps in tact. While I’m all for celebrating natural beauty, I provide my clients with full resolution digitals in addition to their albums. And I know what razor bumps look like blown up on a wall—not ideal. So I choose to meticulously edit every image that leaves my studio in the event my client chooses to blow up her images. I want them to look incredible at 6 inches wide and just as beautiful at 60 inches wide.

If you’re considering a winter holiday shoot, reach out and set up a time to chat. I love meeting women on Zoom - it gives us the opportunity to connect, say hello, and explore the possibilities.

Happy autumn!

Susan
